The demonstration at Jantar Mantar took a severe turn when clashes erupted between the police force and the agitating crowds, which also involved instances of stone-pelting. Stepping directly into the controversy, Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the central administration, raising difficult questions about its handling of the situation.
Meetings with the Speaker and Injured Students
Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi took the matter to the parliament by holding a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. During this interaction, he strongly pushed for an immediate and thorough discussion regarding the NEET paper leak controversy on the floor of the house. Shortly after this parliamentary move, he headed straight to RML Hospital alongside his sister, Priyanka Gandhi. Their visit was aimed at checking on the protesters who had sustained injuries during the recent police clashes. They spent time speaking with the wounded individuals to understand their condition, a move that visibly hardened his stance against the ruling government.
Calling Out the Prime Minister
Expressing grave concern over the current state of affairs, Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the entire nation is aware of the broken education system, yet it continues to function without correction. He aimed his criticism directly at the Prime Minister, questioning the reasons behind his continued silence on such a pressing issue. He firmly stated that the country's top leadership ought to issue a public apology to the student community. Furthermore, he strongly condemned the physical assault on students by police personnel, calling for an immediate halt to such actions and labeling the entire crackdown as fundamentally wrong.
Pushing for Cabinet Resignations
The opposition leader did not stop at demanding accountability; he explicitly called for the removal of key cabinet members. Calling Dharmendra Pradhan a mere mediator, he insisted that the minister must step down from his position without delay. However, he also pointed out that the aggressive police action against the students was not directed by Dharmendra Pradhan, but rather falls under the purview of the Home Minister. Consequently, he demanded the resignation of the Home Minister as well. He further argued that since the Home Minister directly reports to the Prime Minister, the top leadership must take responsibility for the ongoing chaos and step down accordingly.
