A state-level school inauguration ceremony in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district took an ugly political turn when the venue transformed into a battleground for political workers. Intense verbal sparring between members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress party quickly escalated into physical altercation, pushing, and shoving. Amidst the chaotic scene, a shocking incident occurred where the District Panchayat President of Rajgarh was physically assaulted and slapped in public, sparking immense political tension in the state.
The Origin of the Conflict
The event was organized on Friday in Narsinghgarh to mark the inauguration of the Sandipani School, with the state minister in charge, Chaitanya Kashyap, attending as the chief guest. From the Congress side, Rajgarh District Panchayat President Chander Singh Sondhiya and Vice President Parvat Singh Yadav arrived at the venue to participate. Initially, both opposition leaders took their seats in the front rows below the stage. While addressing the gathering, Narsinghgarh MLA Mohan Sharma noticed them and extended an invitation for them to join the dignitaries on the stage. Following his gesture, Sondhiya and Yadav walked up to the stage and took their designated seats.
Altercation on Stage and Physical Assault
The peace was short-lived, as trouble began shortly after they settled on the stage. While District Panchayat President Chander Singh Sondhiya was engaged in a discussion with the minister in charge, Chaitanya Kashyap, and the BJP District President, an argument broke out between Sondhiya and Narsinghgarh MLA Mohan Sharma's son. Seeing the tempers flare, local police personnel stepped in to defuse the situation and began guiding the Congress leaders down from the stage. However, as they were being led away, several BJP workers started pushing and shoving them. Amidst the chaos, an elderly man stepped forward and slapped Sondhiya across his cheek.
Police Intervention and Social Media Outrage
To prevent the situation from spiraling completely out of control, the police escorted the Rajgarh District Panchayat President and other Congress workers away from the venue and took them to the local police station. Notably, high-ranking administrative officials, including Rajgarh Collector Girish Kumar Mishra and other government staff, were present on the stage when this dramatic sequence of events unfolded. Prior to this stage drama, a separate confrontation had also occurred between Sondhiya and the police force when the police reportedly tried to restrict his entry into the event, leading to a clash between the police and Congress loyalists.
Shortly after the incident, a video recording of the elderly man slapping the District Panchayat President went viral across various social media platforms. The clip drew widespread criticism from citizens and political analysts alike, condemning the physical attack on a public representative. Sondhiya himself slammed the administration and BJP workers, describing the incident as an act of absolute dictatorship.
Congress Announces Large-Scale Protest
In response to the mistreatment and physical assault of their senior leader, the Rajgarh District Congress Committee has announced a strong political counter-offensive. The opposition party has scheduled a massive protest demonstration in Narsinghgarh on Saturday, commencing around 12:00 PM. Congress leadership has declared that they will block administrative offices and demand immediate action against those who instigated and executed the physical attack on the District Panchayat President.
