Observers and political analysts are questioning whether the Sharad Pawar faction and the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP are headed toward a merger, whether the Pawar family is planning to reunite, or if Sharad Pawar intends to abandon the MVA alliance to join the NDA. Amidst these persistent rumors, a meeting took place on Wednesday between NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, further fueling the fire of political curiosity.
The meeting between Pawar and Shinde
On Wednesday, Sharad Pawar visited the assembly premises where he met with Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. Reports indicate that Sharad Pawar entered Eknath Shinde’s cabin and held a meeting there alongside legislators from his own party. This move immediately ignited a fresh round of speculation. It is worth noting that earlier rumors suggested that Sharad Pawar's party might merge with the Congress, a possibility that Sharad Pawar had previously dismissed in public statements.
The reason behind Sharad Pawar's visit
According to available information, Sharad Pawar arrived at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan primarily to attend a meeting of a high-level committee formed to address the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute. Once that committee meeting concluded, he proceeded to the office of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. It was at this location that MLAs from the NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) also gathered to meet with him. During the encounter, Eknath Shinde welcomed Sharad Pawar with a shawl and a bouquet of flowers.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis takes a firm stance
In a separate development, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his anger during a debate in the Maharashtra Assembly regarding the 'Missing Link' project. He issued a stern warning to those spreading misinformation and making derogatory comments on social media platforms. Devendra Fadnavis stated clearly that those who lack any relevance are resorting to abusing the Chief Minister. He warned that if anyone attempts to insult Maharashtra in an improper manner, he would not spare them. It should be noted that Shiv Sena (UBT) has been leveling allegations of corruption against the Devendra Fadnavis government regarding the Missing Link project, claiming that the construction of the Pune-Mumbai connecting link was compromised, which resulted in the road being washed away.
