At an age when public figures often step away from active public engagement, Sonia Gandhi has surprised everyone by making a grand entry on the photo-sharing platform Instagram. While she previously engaged with the public mostly through official party handles, she has now established her own dedicated profile. What caught the immediate attention of internet users is her minimalist following list, which excludes almost everyone except a select few family members and her political organization.
A Carefully Curated Following List
Rather than following numerous leaders or extended family members, Sonia Gandhi keeps her digital circle extremely tight. Her following list features only three accounts: her son Rahul Gandhi, her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and the official Congress party page. This focused selection has drawn widespread attention, showcasing a strong blend of family bonding and party loyalty that immediately resonated with people online.
Rapid Growth in Followers and Engagement
The moment her profile went live, it sparked immense interest across the platform. Prominent leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, promptly welcomed her and established a connection. Within just a few hours of her debut, her follower count crossed the 100,000 mark. Furthermore, her inaugural video post quickly surpassed 180,000 likes, demonstrating the massive digital footprint and curiosity surrounding her arrival on the platform.
Sharing the First Look of Her Upcoming Book
Instead of opting for a formal political statement for her first post, she chose a warm and personal approach. The video shows her receiving the very first copy of her upcoming book titled ‘बिलॉन्गिंग: ए जर्नी ऑफ लव’ and celebrating the moment with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi by sharing sweets. She wrote in the caption, “सभी को नमस्कार! इस पल को आप सभी के साथ शेयर करते हुए मुझे बेहद खुशी हो रही है। यह मेरी किताब की पहली झलक है जो प्यार, फर्ज, अपनों को खोने के दर्द और अपनेपन को तलाशने की कहानी है।”
A Memoir Detailing Her Life Journey
Published by ‘हार्पर कॉलिन्स इंडिया’ and scheduled for release on November 10, the book promises to reveal several hidden chapters of her life. The narrative covers her childhood in Italy, her meeting with Rajiv Gandhi in Cambridge in 1965, her transition to life in India, and her experiences with learning Hindi and wearing sarees. It also addresses the personal tragedies involving Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, alongside the historic political turning point when she stepped down from the prime ministerial post in 2004.
