Actress Rakhi Sawant has secured significant legal relief in Uttar Pradesh as a local court in Jhansi officially cancelled the non-bailable warrant issued against her on Thursday. The proceedings stem from allegations dating back to 2010 concerning the abetment of a young man's suicide.
During the court proceedings, the defense counsel presented a copy of a stay order issued by the Allahabad High Court. Based on this submitted document, the court was requested to set aside the warrant, leading to a favorable decision for the actress.
High Court Stay Order Presented In Court
According to Ashu Singh, the legal representative for Rakhi Sawant, the court of the Civil Judge (Junior Division) had earlier issued a non-bailable warrant against the actress on October 16. In response, the defense filed an application citing the specific order from the Allahabad High Court that had previously halted further legal proceedings in the matter.
Taking cognizance of the high court directive, the Civil Judge (Junior Division), Fast Track Court, ultimately revoked the non-bailable warrant.
Connection To The 2010 Suicide Case
The legal controversy originates from the tragic death of Lakshman Ahirwar, a resident of the Hansari area in Jhansi. The mother of the deceased had filed a formal complaint against Rakhi Sawant at the Premnagar police station. The complaint alleged that Lakshman died by suicide after being deeply distressed by certain objectionable and insulting remarks made by Rakhi Sawant during a television show.
As per the records of the complaint, 24-year-old Lakshman Ahirwar had taken his own life on November 10, 2010.
Previous High Court Intervention From 2011
Advocate Ashu Singh further clarified that the Allahabad High Court had already stayed further proceedings in the case until further orders on December 7, 2011. Using this established high court order as the primary grounds, the defense requested the cancellation of the warrant, which the Jhansi court accepted.
