Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary TTV Dhinakaran launched a scathing attack on the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government on Wednesday, describing its administrative functioning as completely detached from ground reality and akin to watching a cinema. Speaking to reporters during a press conference in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Dhinakaran criticized the ruling political party led by C. Joseph Vijay, alleging that despite fielding unfamiliar faces across electoral constituencies, the party managed to capture 108 seats in the assembly primarily by enticing youth through Instagram Reels and cinematic glitz.
Doubts Raised Over Lawmakers' Competence
Questioning the basic administrative readiness of newly elected TVK ministers and MLAs, Dhinakaran claimed that many of them lack foundational knowledge of both the Tamil language and basic mathematics. He cited specific instances where TVK legislators misread simple numerical figures and visibly struggled with basic units of measurement, even confusing millilitres with millimetres during official proceedings.
CM Vijay Accused of Silent Governance
Directing his criticism squarely at Chief Minister Vijay, the AMMK chief alleged that the chief minister observed 100 days of absolute silence inside the legislative assembly. Dhinakaran added that Vijay appeared to struggle while reading out prepared written statements, accusing the head of government of attempting to operate state administration much like a film shooting schedule rather than running a serious constitutional government.
Welfare Commitments and Governance Failure
Dhinakaran further emphasized that TVK gained power by making big electoral promises that it cannot fulfill. He listed key campaign assurances, including a financial assistance of Rs 2,500, six gas cylinders, and comprehensive farmers' loan waivers. According to Dhinakaran, the inexperienced ruling administration now lacks the understanding and capacity required to handle routine state governance and execute these pledges.
