UP Elections 2027: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Blasts Congress And Samajwadi Party Over Alliance Hesitation

Ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized Congress and the Samajwadi Party for hesitating to form an alliance, stating his party aims to prevent a third term for the BJP.

Political activity in Uttar Pradesh is steadily picking up pace ahead of the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for 2027. Amid ongoing discussions surrounding potential electoral alliances and seat-sharing arrangements, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul المسलिमीन (AIMIM) supremo and parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. He openly accused both parties of hesitating to form an alliance with AIMIM, questioning why these political outfits appear so fearful and reluctant to collaborate.

Questions Raised Over Opposition Hesitation

During a recent extensive interview, Asaduddin Owaisi stated that he fails to grasp why Congress and the Samajwadi Party are so apprehensive about partnering with his party. He remarked that reviewing the historical track record of the Samajwadi Party reveals a pattern where the outfit has never genuinely desired to see Muslim leaders emerge and rise in politics. According to Owaisi, political parties that project themselves as secular actually prefer that the Muslim community remains silent, acting merely as passive voters who cast their ballots on election day and remain quiet thereafter.

Emphasizing Active Citizenship And Core Issues

Elaborating further, Owaisi argued that restricting oneself to the role of a mere voter will never solve the deep-rooted social, political, and educational challenges faced by the community. He asserted that people must embrace their identity as active Indian citizens and play a meaningful role in governance. If citizens remain confined to being just voters, the candidates who win elections will never voice their genuine grievances inside legislative bodies. Directing sharp criticism at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Owaisi alleged that if a Muslim individual is imprisoned, Yadav does not visit them, whereas if a similar situation involves someone from the Yadav community, he readily organizes roadshows in response.

Drawing Parallels With Bihar And The Ball In Opposition's Court

Addressing accusations leveled by opposition parties that AIMIM acts as a vote-cutter during elections, Owaisi labeled those parties arrogant and accused them of refusing to engage in self-introspection. He emphasized that contesting elections is his party's democratic right. Although the previous performance in Uttar Pradesh was not strong, the current outlook is much more promising. Citing the example of the Bihar elections, Owaisi recalled that when the Rashtriya Janata Dad refused an alliance, his party teamed up with other partners and successfully secured five seats. He stated that the ball regarding an alliance in Uttar Pradesh now rests entirely in the court of Congress and the Samajwadi Party.

Blocking A Third BJP Term And Ground Preparation

Reiterating his primary political objective for the state, Owaisi stated that his party aims to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party from securing a third consecutive term in Uttar Pradesh. However, the decision regarding where and how to contest will be made independently by AIMIM. He expressed confidence that his party is receiving strong grassroots support this time around, with capable individuals aligning with their mission. Owaisi voiced optimism that AIMIM candidates will enter the Uttar Pradesh assembly as elected legislators to raise genuine public concerns. He concluded by emphasizing that his party represents not only Muslim minorities but every marginalized and underprivileged segment of society.
