During an event held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the opposition parties, specifically targeting the Samajwadi Party and Congress over claims regarding the state of government schools. Addressing remarks that opposition members would record videos of schools, the Chief Minister remarked that they should certainly go ahead and do so because the government has fundamentally transformed these institutions.
Elaborating on the infrastructure overhaul, the Chief Minister stated that through Operation Kayakalp, the administration has ensured proper flooring in every school, along with separate toilets for boys and girls, and clean drinking water facilities. Smart classrooms, digital libraries, and adequate furniture have also been introduced. Furthermore, the government has provided school bags and books to around 1 करोड़ 60 लाख children, while uniforms, shoes, socks, and sweaters are being regularly supplied to every single student.
The stark contrast between pre-2017 conditions and today
Raising questions about the state of education prior to 2017, the Chief Minister pointed out the systemic failures of earlier years. Before 2017, school buildings either did not exist, or if buildings stood, teachers were missing. Even when teachers were present, student attendance was dismal, with nearly half the children dropping out before completing the academic session due to the absolute lack of drinking water and toilet facilities.
Highlighting the current scenario, he noted that under the Nipun Bharat Abhiyan, school children in Uttar Pradesh are excelling not just in recognizing letters but also in framing proper sentences. They are learning science, mathematics, and English right inside their classrooms. Whenever officials visit these schools, they observe students performing remarkably well, proving that a visible and substantial transformation has taken place across the state.
Addressing fair price shop dealers and past governance
While interacting with fair price shop dealers during the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that if one's labor does not earn respect, it should at least not bring a sense of humiliation. He recalled that prior to 2017, dealers performed their duties while facing widespread suspicion and a complete lack of social dignity, echoing sentiments earlier expressed by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.
He remarked that the very term used for ration dealers had once become a source of irritation for the public through no fault of the dealers themselves. Pointing to the previous administrations, he stated that those in power suffered from flawed intentions and corruption, whose malpractices affected hardworking individuals who could not escape the shadow of systemic dishonesty, leaving them vulnerable to public suspicion.
