Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at the Ramlila Maidan in Bednapur, Bahraich, on Tuesday to launch a cluster of 70 development works spread across the Nanpara and Mahsi assembly segments. Together, the projects, some freshly inaugurated and others formally begun, carry a price tag of more than Rs 352 crore. During the event, the chief minister also handed over cheques to beneficiaries covered under several state welfare schemes. Elected representatives, government officials and residents from nearby villages turned out in large numbers to attend. Once the programme wrapped up and Adityanath left the venue, several beneficiaries spoke candidly with the Local 18 team about their expectations from the 2027 assembly elections.
A cheque that seeds young entrepreneurs
Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana, beneficiary Abhishek Singh received a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh. Singh said the money would help him launch his own venture. "This scheme is giving young people a chance to create jobs instead of hunting for one," he said. He added that such support is nudging youth toward self-employment, encouraging them to become job creators rather than standing in line as job seekers.
Beneficiaries make their pitch for 2027
As beneficiaries walked away holding their cheques after the foundation-laying ceremony, several stopped to speak candidly with the Local 18 crew. They said the current government has been working in the interest of young people, women and citizens across every caste and religion. A number of women beneficiaries said they are now writing their own story of financial independence. People also credited the ambitious Ayushman card scheme with easing their access to healthcare and cutting their medical costs. With that confidence, most beneficiaries went on to claim outright that Adityanath's government would return to power in Uttar Pradesh once again in 2027.
A boost for the millet business
Poonam Singh, a beneficiary of the Uttar Pradesh Millets Revival Programme, was given a cheque worth Rs 20 lakh. She already runs a shop selling Shree Anna, or millets, and said the fresh government support would let her scale up the business. According to her, the move will raise awareness about millets among consumers while giving farmers in the area a better market for their produce, which should also boost their earnings.
Solar flour mill to power jobs and cleaner energy
Krishnanand Yadav received Rs 10 lakh in assistance to set up a solar-powered flour mill. He said the funds would let him install a modern, solar-energy-driven atta chakki. In his view, the project will not only create local employment but also promote environmental conservation through the use of solar power.
CM's address: self-reliance for youth, women and farmers
In his address, Yogi Adityanath said the state government is continuously rolling out new schemes to make youth, women and farmers self-reliant even as development work continues across the state. He said the goal is to ensure every section of society benefits from these schemes, to expand local employment opportunities and to further strengthen the rural economy. The chief minister urged the gathering to make full use of government schemes and become active partners in the state's development, so that the benefits of growth reach every household.
