Police in Alwar, Rajasthan have taken a man into custody for allegedly trapping a 14-year-old schoolgirl, blackmailing her into surrendering valuable family assets, and sexually assaulting her. Following a formal complaint at the Aravali Vihar police station, law enforcement authorities arrested the accused, identified as Pratham Singh Rathore. He faces charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside sections related to rape, extortion, and criminal intimidation.
Social Media Friendship Used as a Trap
According to details recorded by the police, the course of events originated around October 2025. The ninth-grade student was regularly stalked by Rathore whenever she visited a local neighborhood park. When she confronted him about his behavior, the accused promised to assist her with her schoolwork and persuaded her to accept a friend request on Instagram. Gradually, Rathore began frequenting the area around her residence, using chocolates, small gifts, and persuasive speech to win her confidence.
Extortion of Jewelry Worth 30 Lakh and Sexual Assault
Over time, the accused transitioned into emotional blackmail and began issuing self-harm and suicide threats to manipulate the minor. Under this duress, the girl handed over gold and silver jewelry worth approximately 30 lakh rupees from her household. On July 12, 2026, Rathore deceptively led the girl to his friend's rented room, where he committed rape. During the act, he recorded explicit video footage, which he subsequently used as leverage to demand additional money and jewelry under the threat of public release.
Alert School Van Driver Uncovers the Crime
To maintain psychological control after the assault, Rathore repeatedly pursued the girl's school transport vehicle between July 13 and July 16, performing reckless motorcycle stunts directly in front of the van. Observing the suspicious behavior, the alert school van driver intercepted the accused and brought him directly to the school principal. Overcome with fear, the victim recounted her ordeal to the principal and subsequently to her mother. Station Incharge Gurudutt Saini confirmed that based on the mother's formal statement, Rathore was promptly arrested and remanded to judicial custody while detailed investigations continue.
