The murder of former MLA Atar Singh Bhadana in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan has sent shockwaves through the region. As the police investigation continues to unfold, serious details regarding the brutality of the attack and the intentions of the perpetrators are coming to light. According to ongoing police inquiries, the assailants launched a fierce assault on Bhadana using sticks and sharp weapons, executing a well-planned violent act.
According to the ongoing police investigation, the attackers subjected Bhadana to a brutal beating with sticks and sharp-edged weapons. Allegations suggest he was beaten so severely that the bones in his limbs were fractured and he sustained critical head injuries. The post-mortem examination reportedly revealed over 40 injury marks across his body. Family members have alleged that the intent of the attackers was not limited to murder, as they also wanted to burn Bhadana and his staff alive.
Sudden Blackout and Brutal Assault
According to security guard Gagan Sharma, everyone was having dinner around seven in the night while Bhadana was taking a stroll outside. Suddenly, a group of people arrived on the hill and cut off the power supply, plunging the entire area into darkness. Screams began to echo amid the heavy assault with sticks and rods. Someone struck his head with a blunt object, causing him to lose consciousness. Gagan Sharma is currently admitted to a hospital and is unable to give a statement due to his deteriorating health condition. An FIR has been registered against more than 94 accused individuals in connection with the case. The police are investigating the matter while keeping a close eye on old disputes related to land and mining leases.
The incident took place at the mining site located in Bhoda village under the Vair police station jurisdiction. According to his wife Kamlesh, she was with her husband near the residential quarters built within the mining zone on Sunday evening around seven. Suddenly, around 80 people from the village arrived carrying sticks and weapons. They grabbed her husband and initiated a heavy assault using sticks. Blood started flowing from his head, and the attackers continued to beat him until he lost consciousness. Mining employees Gagan, Poonam Singh, Pradeep, and the security guard who rushed to intervene were also attacked. Subsequently, offices and rooms were set on fire, and threshers were vandalized. Regarding the arson, family members alleged that the perpetrators intended to burn them alive.
Autopsy Findings and Final Rites
The post-mortem examination conducted by a medical board in Jaipur reportedly revealed more than 40 injury marks on Bhadana's body. Fractures were found on his right leg and both hands, while a deep wound on the head was cited as the cause of death. Several severe injuries were found across the body. Initial suspicions pointed toward a gunshot wound during the incident, but X-rays and the autopsy did not confirm this. The body was handed over to the family following the autopsy, and his last rites were performed in his native village Pali in Haryana.
An important aspect that has emerged in this murder case is that Bhadana was allegedly threatened about 14 days prior. Claims indicate he was warned that visiting the mine would result in his death. Tension had persisted surrounding the mining area prior to the incident. Bhadana was a partner in the mining lease alongside Kamlesh Chand and Mukesh Chand. Disputes related to land and mining are considered the potential motive for the incident. Reports indicate that multiple lawsuits regarding land disputes were filed between 2016 and 2024. However, the connection between the threat and the murder will only be confirmed following a thorough investigation.
Case Against Over 94 Accused and Demands for CBI Probe
Bharatpur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meina stated that a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the deceased's wife. The police have detained several suspects and initiated questioning. Raids were conducted to locate the accused, though reports indicate many individuals have fled the village. An FIR has been registered against more than 94 accused persons in the matter. The police are investigating all angles, including the land dispute, previous threats, and the arson that occurred during the incident. Meanwhile, family members have demanded a CBI probe to ensure an impartial investigation. Questions have also been raised regarding the police response and the delay in reaching the crime scene. It remains to be clarified through the ongoing investigation who plotted the attack, what role each person played, and what the actual intentions of the accused were behind setting fires.
