Residents across numerous neighborhoods in Dholpur, Rajasthan, will face a major power suspension spanning nine continuous hours today. The temporary shutdown has been scheduled to execute critical engineering upgrades at the RIICO 33/11 kV substation. Technical teams are halting grid supply between 10 am and 7 pm to install advanced electrical equipment. Consumers throughout the municipal area have been advised to organize their daily household and professional activities around the scheduled outage window.
Substation Capacity Expansion
The primary driver behind this prolonged shutdown is the comprehensive modernization of the RIICO 33/11 kV power station. Engineering crews are decommissioning the existing 5 MVA capacity power transformer that currently manages the local distribution. In its place, technicians will assemble and commission an 8 MVA power transformer. This substantial boost in processing capacity is intended to manage growing grid loads, curb transmission bottlenecks, and ensure stable voltage across local circuits as regional electricity requirements escalate.
Residential Areas Impacted by the Outage
The nine-hour operational shutdown will disrupt regular life across multiple residential zones and neighborhoods. Key localities facing power cuts include Prakash Colony, Suraksha Vihar, Khosla Vihar, Puran Vihar, Ambedkar Colony, and Girish Vihar. Additionally, power lines will remain de-energized throughout Jirawli, the Jirawli Phatak area, Durga Colony, the RIICO residential colony, and Unchiya Colony, leaving thousands of household consumers without main grid access through the morning and afternoon.
Precautionary Measures for Local Residents
Because the disruption covers normal daytime hours, families living in the affected zones are preparing in advance to minimize inconveniences. Completing water pumping routines early to store adequate domestic water supplies is essential. Charging essential devices including smartphones, laptops, portable lights, and home inverters ahead of the 10 am cutoff will prevent workflow disruptions. Regular power transmission across all residential feeders is scheduled to resume immediately after technical testing of the new unit finishes around 7 pm.
