Indian boxer Arundhati Choudhary delivered an authoritative performance on the international stage by clinching the gold medal at the prestigious Tammer Cup boxing tournament in Finland. Held from October 30 to November 1, the competition saw the athlete from Kota, Rajasthan, dominate her division by recording three consecutive victories from the opening rounds straight through to the championship bout.
Dominant Campaign from Quarterfinals to the Title Bout
Representing the Kota Mahabali Sports Academy, Arundhati Choudhary asserted control right from the opening bell. According to her basic coach Ashok Gautam, she kicked off her campaign in the quarterfinals against host nation Finland's Vilma Kuusikko. Arundhati dictated the tempo of the fight, earning a decisive victory to secure her berth in the semifinals.
In the semifinal stage, the Indian boxer went toe-to-toe with New Zealand's Bilooluna. Maintaining her attacking rhythm, she outclassed her opponent to punch her ticket to the championship round without dropping momentum.
Decisive Victory Against Ireland in the Final
The gold medal match pitted Arundhati against Ireland's Evelyn Igharo. The final delivered intense exchanges, but the Kota pugilist maintained precision with her punching combinations and distance control. The judges scored the contest 4-1 in Arundhati's favour, awarding her the tournament's top prize and sealing an unbeaten run across three international bouts.
High-Stakes Competition Featuring Top-Eight Olympic Weight Athletes
The Tammer Cup ranks among the notable events on the international boxing circuit, featuring top-eight contenders across Olympic weight categories representing various nations. India fielded a 14-member contingent comprising seven female and seven male boxers. Overcoming elite global opposition under those competitive conditions highlights the rigorous training and preparation behind Arundhati's title run.
