A major anti-encroachment drive was launched by the municipal council in the Khairthal district to clear illegal structures obstructing key road corridors. The operation commenced at railway crossing gate number 93 and proceeded through Hemu Kalyani Chowk, covering the vegetable market area before concluding along Kishangarh Road. To dismantle encroachments occupying public lanes and sidewalks, the administration mobilized five JCB excavation machines alongside a substantial police force deployed to maintain law and order throughout the corridor.
Demolition of Concrete Platforms and Commercial Extensions
During the clearing operation, teams targeted extensions set up by shop owners extending beyond permitted building boundaries. Makeshift tin sheds, concrete platforms built directly over roadside spaces, and inventory displayed out on public streets were cleared away. Wherever permanent brick-and-mortar structures had illegally encroached upon the right-of-way, municipal teams deployed excavators to demolish them.
Top civic officials remained on the ground to oversee the entire exercise. Municipal council chairman Vikram Singh Choudhary, commissioner Mukesh Sharma, and junior engineer Motilal Verma monitored the movement of heavy machinery and directed operations across various stretches. The continuous presence of senior administrators ensured that enforcement proceeded in a coordinated and swift manner.
Heated Exchanges with Shopkeepers and Police Intervention
Tensions flared briefly in commercial zones when several traders raised sharp objections against the removal of their storefront extensions. Heated arguments broke out between the affected shopkeepers and the municipal removal squad during the drive. However, the heavy presence of police personnel prevented any escalation, keeping the crowd under control. Under police cover, municipal workers pressed ahead with the demolition drive without interruption.
Residents Urge Continuous Monitoring to Prevent Re-encroachment
Local residents welcomed the removal of street congestion and urged the administration to make such enforcement a regular exercise. Citizens pointed out that cleared public spaces frequently witness a resurgence of roadside squatting and commercial spillover once enforcement squads depart. They demanded that the municipal council institute regular inspections and vigilant monitoring across Khairthal to keep pedestrian pathways and carriage ways permanently obstruction-free.
