Administrative authorities in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir have executed a major anti-encroachment operation to reclaim prime state property. The targeted drive took place near Gulnar Park, where an unauthorised shed erected on flood-basin land occupied by the in-laws of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was razed. Following the demolition, the administration formally brought the multi-crore land parcel back under complete state control.
Valuable Land Reclaimed Near Gulnar Park
The enforcement drive targeted several kanals of prime state land situated in a prominent locality near Gulnar Park in Baramulla. Due to its strategic placement, the commercial value of this real estate is estimated to run into crores of rupees. Unauthorised occupants had encroached upon this flood-prone government land without any legal sanction and set up illegal sheds. A specialized administrative team moved in with heavy machinery to dismantle the structures and clear the entire perimeter.
Details of Named Encroachers
According to administrative records documented during the eviction process, the individuals occupying this state land include relatives from the in-laws of Afzal Guru. The official details identify the encroachers as Sajjad Ahmad Buhroo, Tariq Ahmad Buhroo, Tabassum Guroo, Manzoor Ahmad Buhroo, and several others. The entire tract was secured by revenue and district authorities following the removal of these illegal holdings.
Drive to Continue Across the District
Reiterating its firm stance, the district administration announced that rigorous enforcement actions against illegal encroachments will continue unabated. Authorities warned that anyone found occupying public property or misusing state resources will face uncompromising punitive measures strictly in line with statutory regulations. Systematic surveys are underway across the district to identify further encroachments and initiate eviction proceedings.
Tough Measures on Public Land Protection
The operation reflects the broader administrative priority to safeguard state assets from unauthorized development and illicit occupation across Jammu and Kashmir. Officials have emphasized that land grabbers and unauthorized occupants will face decisive bulldozer action regardless of influence. The ongoing multi-stage campaign aims to restore all identified encroached properties to the public inventory systematically over the coming months.
