A massive religious gathering is taking place at Charbhuja in Pali on the auspicious occasion of Devjhulni Ekadashi. Alongside local devotees, a tremendous influx of pilgrims travelling towards Ramdevra also makes a halt at the Charbhuja temple to seek blessings, creating immense pedestrian and vehicular pressure across the entire corridor. The hilly Desuri Nal ghat stretch is notorious for its treacherous terrain, sharp blind bends, and steep inclines. To prevent catastrophic road accidents, eliminate massive traffic congestions, and safeguard thousands of walking devotees, authorities have enforced major traffic curbs across this vulnerable transit route.
Administrative Orders Under Section 163 Imposed
In response to the heavy footfall expected at the renowned Devjhulni Ekadashi fair in Charbhuja, complete vehicular restrictions have been placed on heavy transports attempting to navigate the Desuri Nal ghat section. District Collector Dr. Ravindra Goswami issued the statutory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, to ensure public safety and orderly traffic movement. These regulatory curbs will remain operational until 10 pm on September 25. Throughout this operational window, all heavy vehicles moving from the Desuri side or heading from Pali district towards Charbhuja via Desuri are strictly forbidden from entering the ghat section and are being channeled onto designated diversion corridors.
Exemptions for Essential Services and Local Commuters
To avoid disrupting public necessities and critical emergencies, the district administration has granted specific exemptions from the travel ban. Light motor vehicles belonging to local residents can move without restrictions. Furthermore, emergency medical ambulances, fire tenders, essential disaster services, defense vehicles of the armed forces, police units, home guards, vehicles assigned to law enforcement and order management, as well as operational railway vehicles, are entirely exempt from the directive. These authorized categories will continue their journeys without being turned back at checkpoints.
Designated Detours for Udaipur and Ahmedabad Traffic
Detailed diversions have been established for heavy freight trucks and commercial transports navigating the region. Vehicles arriving from the Pali side can proceed through Sanderao and merge onto the Sirohi-Pindwara four-lane highway (NH-62/NH-27). From Pindwara, traffic can progress smoothly via Gogunda to reach Udaipur directly. Commercial haulers headed onward can connect to NH-48 from Udaipur to travel down to Ahmedabad without interruption, making this multi-lane expressway the most secure and dependable route for freight. Alternatively, commercial traffic originating near Sojat or Pali can travel via the Beawar-Bheem stretch along NH-58, passing Gomti Chauraha to approach Rajsamand and Udaipur.
Route Comparison and Highway Travel Advantages
The conventional corridor running from Pali through the winding Desuri Nal to Udaipur spans roughly 188 kilometers. In comparison, rerouting via the Sanderao-Pindwara four-lane corridor (NH-62/NH-27) by way of Gogunda extends the travel distance to approximately 245 kilometers. Drivers adopting the diversion route will cover an extra distance of around 55 to 60 kilometers. Even though this detour adds extra kilometers, the wide four-lane highway provides far superior safety, avoids narrow bottlenecks, and ensures an uninterrupted run for heavy commercial operations.
