A major sigh of relief has arrived for tourists and local businesses as the popular jungle safari services in Rajasthan's renowned tourist destination Kumbhalgarh are set to resume. The strike called by the jungle safari jeep association, which had continued for the past five days, has finally come to an end. The association officially announced the resumption of jungle safari jeep operations starting at 3 PM today. The end of this strike has sparked immense joy among local tourism operators as well as visitors who were eagerly waiting to experience the safari, as the disruption had severely impacted tourism activities in the region over recent days.
Reasons behind the strike and official talks
The jeep operators had gone on strike for five days over various pending demands and a long-standing issue regarding delayed payments. During this period, the complete halt of jeep operations meant that tourists visiting Kumbhalgarh could not access the jungle safari facility, which directly affected local tourism. To resolve the matter, office-bearers of the jungle safari taxi association held telephonic discussions with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Rajasthan in Jaipur. During the conversation, they briefed the senior officials about their ongoing problems and pending demands. The PCCF adopted a positive stance on all demands and assured a prompt resolution, following which the association members mutually decided to call off the strike.
Relief through clearance of pending dues
A major factor behind ending the strike was the clearance of nearly two months of pending payments owed to the jeep operators. The prolonged delay in receiving payments had caused severe financial distress for the operators, making it difficult for them to sustain operations. The deposit of these overdue amounts has now provided substantial relief to the operators, and the association remains optimistic that their remaining demands will also be addressed shortly. With the five-day shutdown coming to an end, visitors can once again enjoy the natural beauty of the forest and observe wildlife up close. The jeep operators have expressed gratitude to the PCCF Rajasthan and related officials for their cooperative approach and assurance, hoping that future safari operations will remain uninterrupted.
