A wave of tension has gripped the Khejradwas village panchayat within the Jobner police station jurisdiction in Jaipur district following the suspicious death of a young married woman. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Sanju Kumawat, whose maternal family has leveled serious allegations against her in-laws. Her relatives claim that her death was not accidental or natural, but rather a calculated murder orchestrated due to unmet dowry demands. Allegations of prolonged harassment over dowry demands
The victim's brother, Devendra Kumawat, has filed a formal written complaint at the Jobner police station detailing extensive grievances against the in-laws. Residing near the Asalpur BPCL depot in Nahar ki Dhani, Devendra stated that his sister Sanju was married in the year 2024 to Jitendra Kumawat from Kundalwalon ki Dhani in Khejradwas. The couple shares a one-year-old son named Mayank, who has been continuously crying for his mother following the tragedy. According to the complaint, relentless physical and mental harassment against Sanju began merely two months after her wedding.
Husband and father-in-law named in harassment claims
As per the details registered in the complaint, the husband Jitendra Kumawat, father-in-law Jagdish Kumawat, mother-in-law Nanchi Devi, along with Banwari Marothia from Bobas and his father Ramkaran Maroothia, continuously pressured the victim for cash and a four-wheeler vehicle. The maternal family alleges that Sanju faced regular physical abuse and mistreatment whenever these demands went unfulfilled. When Sanju's condition suddenly deteriorated on the day of the incident, she was rushed to the government hospital in Hingonia, where attending doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Relatives stated that they were informed about the emergency roughly two hours after the incident occurred, and were initially told that she suffered a fatal heart attack. However, upon arriving at the scene, the family members noticed distinct rope marks around Sanju's neck, raising immediate suspicion regarding the actual circumstances of her death. They subsequently demanded a post-mortem examination by a medical board and a fair, independent investigation.
Agreement reached earlier in the presence of officials
Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, Jobner Station House Officer Motilal Sharma, Jobner SDM Ramesh Kumar, Tehsildar Gajendra Singh Rathore, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Pannalal Jangid intervened and held detailed discussions with both parties. Following successful mediation in the presence of these administrative officers, an initial consensus was reached to conduct the post-mortem via a medical board and hand over the body to the in-laws. Station House Officer Sharma noted that Jobner Sub-Divisional Officer Ramesh Kumar will serve as the chief investigating officer, with the administration assuring a transparent inquiry and strict action against any wrongdoers.

Despite the afternoon consensus, the situation escalated again around 7:30 PM when the deceased woman's relatives grew agitated and began protesting. The grieving family demanded the immediate correction of alleged errors within the FIR alongside the prompt arrest of the named accused individuals. They declared that they would neither take custody of the body nor permit the in-laws to claim it until both demands were fully satisfied.
