A heated altercation over vehicle parking in the main market of Kishangarh, located in Rajasthan's Ajmer district, escalated into massive unrest on Saturday. The conflict initially broke out on Friday night between advocate Babulal Bagariya and Traffic CO Anju Yadav over a car parked on the thoroughfare. During the confrontation, the police officer allegedly lost her temper and slapped the advocate. A video recording of the encounter quickly circulated across social media platforms, triggering widespread indignation among the local legal fraternity and setting off a major confrontation with the police administration.
Advocates Form Human Chain and Paralyse Commercial District
Furious over the alleged mistreatment of their colleague, lawyers gathered in large numbers at the main market on Saturday morning to launch a vigorous protest. Demonstrating complete unity, the advocates staged a road blockade and formed a massive human chain across the crowded stretch. The sudden blockade and loud anti-police sloganeering brought traffic movement to an absolute standstill. Long queues of stranded vehicles quickly formed along the main artery, causing severe disruption and prolonged distress to daily commuters, local shoppers, and shopkeepers.
Protesting advocates publicly condemned the behaviour of the police officer, asserting that uniforms should not be used as a shield to intimidate or demean citizens and legal professionals. The lawyers maintained that such abusive actions would not be tolerated under any circumstances. They demanded the immediate suspension of Traffic CO Anju Yadav and pressed for decisive departmental accountability regarding the incident.
Police Deploy Force From Three Stations to Clear One-Hour Jam
The sudden unrest in the central market area triggered alarm within the local police administration. Recognising the volatility of the situation, CO City Dharmraj Choudhary rushed to the scene accompanied by a large police contingent drawn from three separate police stations. Senior officers immediately initiated discussions with the demonstrating advocates, working to defuse the standoff right on the crowded road.
Following nearly an hour of intensive negotiations and explicit assurances of an impartial investigation, the police successfully persuaded the advocates to end their blockade, allowing normal vehicular movement to resume. Nevertheless, the legal community issued a clear warning that if swift and stringent measures were not taken against the officer involved, they would intensify their agitation across the region.
Traffic CO Defends Actions Citing Unlawful Obstruction
Presenting her perspective on the controversy, Traffic CO Anju Yadav offered an explanation regarding what occurred on Friday night. According to the officer, a young man had parked his vehicle right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and walked into the market to make purchases. Even after a lengthy wait, the owner failed to return, and the vehicle left unattended in a designated no-parking zone caused severe congestion throughout the surrounding market area.
Yadav stated that when the individual finally walked back to the spot, police personnel on duty directed him to remove the vehicle and avoid disrupting public passage. Instead of acknowledging the violation, the individual reportedly contested the intervention and engaged in a confrontation with the officers. Despite her account, strong resentment persists within the legal fraternity, with advocates firmly insisting on the officer's immediate suspension from duty.
