Widespread tension erupted in Chhota Lamba village under the Arain police station jurisdiction in Ajmer district following the discovery of a married woman's body inside a well under suspicious circumstances. The deceased was identified as Soni Devi, wife of Bajrang Bairwa, residing in Chhota Lamba village. As news of the body floating in the well spread across the locality, a large crowd of villagers and grieving relatives rushed to the spot, causing immediate panic and resentment throughout the area. Suspecting foul play, the family members launched a aggressive protest, rejecting claims of a simple accident.
Public Outrage Erupts After Body Recovered from Well
Local residents who first spotted the corpse inside the village well alerted the Arain police station. A police force reached the location shortly after and successfully retrieved the body with the assistance of local villagers. However, a massive gathering had already formed by the time the retrieval was completed. Family members of Soni Devi firmly asserted that her death was not natural or accidental, alleging instead that she was murdered by culprits who subsequently threw her body into the well to destroy evidence. This accusation rapidly intensified the anger among the assembled crowd.
Arson and Blockade on Kishangarh-Sarwar State Highway
Furious over the suspicious death, the family and community members placed the deceased woman's body on the roadside and initiated a sit-in demonstration. As emotions ran high, the protesters blocked vehicular movement on the key Kishangarh-Sarwar State Highway. Demonstrators escalated their anger by setting a motorcycle on fire right on the road. The total shutdown of the highway led to long queues of stranded vehicles extending over several kilometers, causing extreme hardship and delay for commuters and long-distance travelers.
Administrative and Police Intervention
Given the severity of the highway blockade and arson, top administrative and police authorities responded rapidly to restore order. Heavy police forces were deployed to maintain law and order at the site. Tehsildar Santosh Kumar Lugariya and Deputy Ayush Vashishtha reached the spot to talk directly with the protesting family and village elders. The officials offered firm assurances that a thorough investigation would be conducted and strict legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty. However, the villagers remained adamant on their demand for the immediate arrest of the named suspects.
Removal of Encroachments and Autopsy Procedure
Alongside managing the law and order crisis, the local administration initiated strict anti-encroachment measures in the surrounding area. Official enforcement drives began clearing illegal huts and temporary structures built unlawfully on government pasture land in the vicinity. Meanwhile, the police formally secured custody of Soni Devi's body and dispatched it for a post-mortem examination. Authorities stated that the precise cause of death will be determined only after the autopsy report is released, after which relevant legal sections will be applied and formal criminal proceedings will advance.
