A massive recruitment drive has been rolled out to strengthen the teaching cadre in Uttar Pradesh across basic and secondary education institutions. The administration has initiated hiring across 15,012 academic vacancies, formally distributing the positions through two separate public advertisements. The initiative encompasses various ranks, ranging from primary assistant instructors to postgraduate lecturers, with distinct application procedures earmarked for the respective wings. Aspirants can now submit their credentials through the designated digital registration gateway.
Breakdown of Teaching Vacancies Across Categories
The allocation of seats indicates an overwhelming focus on foundational and elementary schooling, with primary-level positions accounting for the largest share of openings. A collective tally of 12,405 openings belongs to assistant teacher cadres, divided into 897 posts in attached primary institutions and 11,508 posts positioned within urban sector schools. Alongside these positions, higher secondary institutions will recruit 2,607 lecturers under the postgraduate teacher category to manage specialized subject instruction.
Registration Timeline and Important Deadlines
Prospective applicants seeking the 12,405 assistant teacher positions were granted access to the digital application system starting September 16. For the 2,607 postgraduate teacher vacancies, the enrollment process commenced on September 18. The recruitment portal operates under a mandatory one-time registration mechanism. Candidates are required to conclude their registrations and remit the mandatory examination fee by October 15, 2026. An operational window to rectify clerical errors in submitted application drafts will remain accessible until October 19, 2026. The written evaluation for primary-level instructor positions has been slated to occur across December 3 and December 4, 2026.
Fee Architecture and Prescribed Age Parameters
Eligibility in terms of candidate age will be evaluated against the benchmark date of July 1, 2026. Applicants must have attained at least 21 years of age, while the standard ceiling stands at 40 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are entitled to age relaxations under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh UPESSC primary teacher examination regulations, advertisement number 05/2026. The processing charge is pegged at 1,000 rupees for unreserved, Other Backward Classes, and Economically Weaker Section candidates. Applicants from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories are required to pay 500 rupees, whereas persons with disabilities will be charged 300 rupees. The examination authority permits digital remissions through UPI, debit card, credit card, and internet banking gateways.
Mandatory TET Compliance Following Supreme Court Ruling
The recruitment process strictly aligns with authoritative legal directives established by the Supreme Court concerning minimum educational benchmarks for educators. The top court previously mandated that clearing the Teacher Eligibility Test is an essential prerequisite for entering teaching roles. Furthermore, the judicial bench affirmed that any teacher seeking fresh employment or career promotion cannot maintain a legitimate claim without possessing valid TET qualification credentials. Consequently, candidates aspiring for these state educational vacancies must ensure adherence to the required qualification framework.
