Ancient philosophy once humorously suggested borrowing to afford rich diets, but contemporary wrestlers in Rajasthan will no longer need loans to fuel their training. Under an ambitious initiative by the Rajasthan State Wrestling Association, athletes are receiving crucial nutritional backing designed to elevate their performance without financial strain.
The Ghee Distribution Drive in Kota
This welfare initiative rolled out prominently during the Chambal Rajasthan Kesari Wrestling Dangal held at the 133rd National Dussehra Fair in Kota. Over 600 wrestlers who gathered from across the state were provided with pure cow ghee packaged in one-kilogram and five-kilogram containers. The financial backing for this nutrition drive is shared between the wrestling association and Saras Dairy.
Comprehensive Support and Modern Facilities
The core objective is clear: to equip Rajasthan wrestlers with superior nutrition and physical power, mirroring neighboring regions that dominate the sport globally. Rajiv Datta, President of the Rajasthan State Wrestling Association, emphasized that sports appeal heavily relies on prize money and facilities. Consequently, athletes are receiving professional shoes, athletic kits, water bottles, and essential gear alongside the ghee.
Air Travel for Tournaments
To eliminate travel fatigue before major bouts, the association is also arranging air travel for wrestlers heading out to distant competitions. Ensuring that athletes remain well-rested helps them preserve their energy and focus entirely on their upcoming matches in the arena.
Athletes Value the Nutritional Focus
Wrestlers have strongly welcomed the move, noting its direct impact on athletic capability. Aru Chaudhary, a competitor from Bhilwara, highlighted that ghee remains an indispensable component of traditional training for building robust stamina. Similarly, female wrestler Aarti stressed that physical strength dictates success in wrestling, making a wholesome diet non-negotiable.
Anti-Drug Message and Future Medals
Beyond physical training, the event carries a strong social message under the theme Kick the Drugs, Pick the Sports, urging local youth to abandon substance abuse in favor of athletics. The association aims to nurture future champions, promising ongoing nutritional and logistical support for anyone who secures national and international medals.
