In an innovative effort to blend environmental conservation with sustainable tourism, a young engineer from Rajasthan has developed a unique startup. Yatharth Agarwal, an engineer hailing from Sumerpur, has built a high-tech prefab infrastructure startup that designs and manufactures luxury container rooms without causing any harm to forests or relying on concrete constructions. According to TrendKia, the business concept emerged as a solution to the concrete construction ban imposed due to ecological sensitivity in the Jawai region.
Zero Land Damage: High-Tech Lodgings Placed by Cranes
Yatharth Agarwal designed these highly movable and luxury lodging solutions to be set up on-site using cranes, requiring absolutely no excavation or concrete foundations. Under this 'Zero Land Damage' technique, the natural topography, plants, and trees of the site remain entirely untouched and safe. Supporting this eco-friendly vision, the state government has also granted a financial aid of 2.5 lakh rupees to this venture under its startup scheme.
Beating Chinese Imports with Domestic Craftsmanship
Following a rigorous research phase of 3 months, Yatharth launched his project in January 2025 by setting up a specialized manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad. The unit produces high-quality space capsule homes, domes, and apple pod cabins. Unlike luxury villas imported from China, which become exorbitantly expensive due to hefty customs duties and shipping costs, these indigenous rooms are crafted using local materials and Indian skills, rendering them 40% to 60% cheaper than their Chinese counterparts.
State-of-the-Art Features and Insulation
These modular cabins are built with high-quality weather-proof mechanisms. The walls are insulated with 4-inch thick specialized PU foam and rockwool, which blocks external heat and sound, leading to minimal power consumption inside. To ensure ecological compatibility, the units come equipped with an in-built plumbing system that links directly to local septic tanks or sewage treatment plants (STPs). According to the founder, demand for these structures has surged over the past year in the forested and eco-sensitive zones of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal, and Maharashtra.
Materials Used in Prefab Construction
These highly durable and weather-resistant units are crafted using the following industrial materials:
- GI and MS steel structures
- Aluminum and ACP sheets
- Fiber cement boards and polycarbonate sheets
- Toughened glass
- PU foam and rockwool insulation
- WPC and gypsum panels
- SPC or wooden flooring and tensile fabric
Current Deployment and Future Vision
These temporary luxury accommodations have already been deployed across popular destinations, including Dharmashala in Himachal, Lagatpuri in Maharashtra, Almora in Uttarakhand, and Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. Looking ahead, Yatharth aims to establish a world-class prefab production unit similar to those in China right inside Rajasthan. These eco-friendly housing solutions could serve as massive assets during major events like the Mahakumbh, Char Dham Yatra, and the Jaisalmer Ran Utsav. To achieve this scale, he is looking forward to land and policy support from the government.
