Detailing the decision, Sinner explained that after consulting with his doctors and his support team, he had to announce his withdrawal from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. His right knee has been bothering him, and despite working intensively with his medical team, he had to accept that he is simply not ready to compete just yet. He expressed deep disappointment over missing the Cincinnati event, stating that he cannot wait to return next year while shifting all his focus toward getting ready for the US Open.
Tournament Schedule and Previous Year Context
The main draw for the Cincinnati Open gets underway on 13 August, with the championship final scheduled for 23 August. Other top competitors taking part in the event include Zverev and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. In the previous 2025 event, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz claimed the title while leading 5-0 in the final against Sinner, before the Italian player was forced to retire due to illness.
