Mount Abu, the sole hill station in Rajasthan, is widely celebrated not only for its scenic landscapes but also for its adventure and sports activities. Travelers from across the country and abroad visit this picturesque destination to experience the thrill amidst natural beauty, making horse riding one of the primary attractions here. Visitors planning a trip to Mount Abu can easily incorporate this activity into their itinerary to make their stay even more memorable.
Where to Find Horse Riding Spots
Tourists can enjoy horse riding along the route stretching from the Arya Samaj parking near Nakki Lake or the Tibetan Market all the way to Sunset Road. Additionally, the adventure sports zone located on Delwara Road also offers this facility to interested visitors. In these designated areas, local horse owners take tourists for rides along specific pre-determined paths. According to Anil Kumar, a local horse owner involved in the trade, more than three dozen horse owners depend on this livelihood, with the number of horses increasing significantly during Diwali and summer vacation seasons.
Rates Depend on Time and Distance
The cost of horse riding at the Tibetan Market horse point ranges between 150 and 300 rupees, varying according to the distance covered. The exact fare depends heavily on the duration of the ride and the specific route chosen by the tourist. Rides can be enjoyed from the banks of Nakki Lake towards Dholpur House, as well as around Sunset Parking and Polo Ground towards the taxi stand. Some horse owners also offer extended rides lasting one to two hours in exchange for advance payments. The horses primarily used for riding here belong to the Marwari and Kathiawari breeds, while a few animal owners also keep Malani horses.
Ensuring Safety and Proper Care
Local horse owners pay close attention to the diet and overall upkeep of their animals to ensure visitors face no trouble during the ride. Horseback riding through the lush green mountains during a trip to Mount Abu offers a distinct and refreshing perspective to travelers. For personal safety, it remains essential to strictly follow the instructions provided by the horse owners. Riders also need to remain mindful of the designated routes and local traffic conditions while enjoying their journey.
