Television is back with its most talked-about reality show, Bigg Boss 20, which has officially begun its latest run. This season has welcomed an artist whose journey to the entertainment industry was filled with immense hardship and perseverance. We are talking about actor Asif Khan, who has carved a special niche for himself through sheer hard work and struggle. Today, audiences across the nation recognize him for his remarkable acting and unforgettable onscreen personas.
The breakthrough role in Panchayat
Asif Khan gained massive popularity nationwide through the hit web series Panchayat. In this acclaimed project, he portrayed the iconic role of Ganesh, the son-in-law from Phulera village. His popular dialogue from the show continues to rule the internet as a viral meme even today. Viewers deeply appreciated his distinct comic timing and effortless acting style. However, the real-life journey of this onscreen fan favourite has been deeply emotional and inspiring.
Struggling days with a 225 rupee daily wage
Hailing from a small village in Rajasthan, Asif Khan faced a major personal tragedy in 2008 when he lost his father. As the family financial condition deteriorated, he started taking up odd jobs alongside his education. Carrying the big dream of becoming an actor, when he arrived in Mumbai, he faced severe challenges regarding food and shelter. To sustain himself, he took up a job as a waiter at the Westin hotel. There, he earned a daily wage of just 225 rupees along with one meal a day. He lived in a cramped chawl with six to seven other people, working day and night to chase his acting dreams.
The heartbreaking hotel kitchen incident during celebrity weddings
At the very hotel where Asif Khan worked, a grand wedding reception for Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena कपूर was hosted. While washing dishes in the kitchen, when Asif learned that prominent icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone were present outside, he became extremely excited. He pleaded with his manager to assign him front-row service duties for a single day so he could catch a glimpse of his favourite stars up close. However, the manager flatly refused his request. Deeply heartbroken by this rejection, Asif went to the restroom and cried for a long time.
From Mirzapur to Panchayat and entering Bigg Boss
Refusing to surrender to his circumstances, Asif Khan eventually left his job as a waiter and ventured into theatre. He grabbed public attention by playing Babar in the gritty series Mirzapur, and later, Panchayat completely transformed his career trajectory. Today, the same Asif Khan has arrived as a prominent star to rule the Bigg Boss 20 house. It remains to be seen how the talented actor performs inside the reality show.
An emotional encounter with Salman Khan
Asif Khan has now officially entered the Bigg Boss 20 house as a contestant. Meanwhile, a video of his entry has gone viral across digital platforms. In the clip, Asif gets noticeably emotional upon locking eyes with Salman Khan. Looking at the superstar, he expressed a heartfelt sentiment dedicated to his mother. The actor stated that the moment was exceptionally special for his mother. Following this, visibly nervous yet thrilled, he shook hands with Salman and expressed his gratitude. The superstar greeted him back with a warm smile and simple grace, a heartwarming interaction that is currently winning immense love from fans online.
