Television actor Paras Kalnawat, widely recognized for his stint in the popular daily soap Anupamaa, is preparing to step back onto the small screen as the lead in the upcoming serial Apsara. Having taken a temporary hiatus from television to explore opportunities across digital and web platforms, the actor realized how deeply he missed working in daily broadcast television. In this fresh outing, he will share the screen alongside co-actors Samiksha Jaiswal and Anushka Merchande, marking a prominent ensemble heading to prime-time viewing.
A Return to Familiar Ground on Star Plus
Reflecting on his return to Star Plus after an absence of roughly three to four years, Paras Kalnawat described the move as feeling akin to a homecoming. He noted that Anupamaa had served as the pivotal turning point of his acting journey, granting him widespread recognition and cementing the network as a meaningful milestone in his career. While he had stepped away purposefully to pursue web series and digital formats, he consistently longed for the daily rhythm of television productions. That yearning aligned precisely with the casting call for Apsara, prompting him to promptly sign on.
Eighteen-Month Physical Transformation and a Tough Screen Persona
Viewers tuning into the new project will witness a markedly altered appearance from the actor. Paras revealed that he aimed for a rugged, tough on-screen presence rather than his earlier familiar styling. To bring this vision to fruition, he dedicated the past year and a half to rigorous conditioning, reducing his body weight by approximately 15 to 18 kilograms while simultaneously developing a sculpted, muscular physique. He expressed keen anticipation about presenting this physically transformed avatar to audiences for the very first time.
Collaboration with Producer Mukta Dhond and the Cast
The project also fulfills a long-standing creative aspiration for the actor, who shared that he had spent considerable time wanting to collaborate with producer Mukta Dhond. Partnering with her on this production has made the experience particularly rewarding for him. In addition, he commended the working atmosphere on set, highlighting a seamless creative rapport with fellow cast members Samiksha Jaiswal and Anushka Merchande throughout filming.
Mythological Roots and Broadcast Schedule
Produced by Mukta Dhond, the narrative framework of Apsara draws thematic inspiration from the ancient mythological lore of Samudra Manthan. The central plot explores the intense conflict between guarding the divine nectar, Amrit, against malevolent forces and the instinctual drive to protect one's own loved ones from harm. The television serial is officially scheduled to commence airing on 21 October on the Star Plus television channel, with digital streaming access available concurrently on JioHotstar.
