Comedian Sunil Pal has publicly criticized the show's producers and host Amitabh Bachchan following the release of a behind the scenes video. The video from the set featured stand up comedians Gaurav Kapoor and Gaurav Gupta as guest participants. Upon viewing the clip, Sunil Pal took to social media to voice his strong disapproval of the guest selection strategy adopted by the production team.
Objections Raised Against Show Producers
Posting a video statement on his official Instagram account, Sunil Pal expressed deep frustration with the direction taken by the show's creators. He emphasized that he has consistently urged television producers to refrain from featuring performers whose comedy relies heavily on explicit language. Sunil Pal argued that comedians who gain popularity through vulgarity on digital platforms should not be given prime space on television networks aimed at broad family audiences. He questioned the criteria used by the management to select such guests for a prime time broadcast.
Direct Appeal to Host Amitabh Bachchan
Turning his focus toward host Amitabh Bachchan, Sunil Pal urged the veteran actor to consider the demographic of his viewership. He highlighted that the quiz show is traditionally watched together by families, including young children and senior citizens. Sunil Pal remarked sarcastically that while Bachchan presents 14 questions to contestants on the show, the audience will inevitably ask a 15th question regarding whether a star of his stature needs to depend on crude performers to maintain viewership numbers.
Precedent of Previous Objections
This incident is not the first time Sunil Pal has spoken out against the inclusion of internet comedians on mainstream television. He had previously expressed similar concerns when stand up artist Samay Raina appeared on the set of the same show. Sunil Pal clarified that his objection is not targeted at any individual comedian's career, but rather represents a stand against the normalization of foul language in content aimed at family households.
