Setting the stage for the crucial 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched its political campaign from the state capital. Speaking before party workers at the state executive committee meeting held inside Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah delivered a direct offensive against leading opposition parties. Shah challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to engage in a formal, face-to-face parliamentary discussion regarding allegations of stolen votes. He stated that whenever the opposition loses at the ballot box, it shifts blame onto the Election Commission instead of reflecting on its political failures, adding that the government stands ready to address every query on the floor of the house if a special parliamentary session is convened.
Comparing Opposition Strategy to Blaming the Umpire After Defeat
Using a cricket analogy to critique the political response of rival leaders, Amit Shah remarked that when a normal team loses a fixture, players assess their shortcomings through self-reflection and intensify their practice sessions. However, he noted that Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav adopt an entirely different mindset by accusing the umpire of dishonesty after facing defeat. Shah argued that while complaints regarding vote theft are voiced frequently, the opposition persistently creates disruptions and stalls normal legislative business whenever opportunities arise for formal debate in parliament. Directing his remarks toward the Samajwadi Party leadership, Shah asserted that Akhilesh Yadav should note down that his party will not be able to return to power in Uttar Pradesh for the next 30 years.
Uniform Civil Code Commitment and Grassroots Mobilization for 2027
In an effort to energize party workers, the Union Home Minister described the state government as having firmly anchored itself like the foot of Angad, which no political adversary can shake or dislodge. He called upon grassroots cadres to cast aside internal grievances by washing them away in the Gomti River and treat the upcoming 2027 assembly contest as their personal responsibility. Shah outlined a major administrative commitment, declaring that as soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party secures its third consecutive victory in Uttar Pradesh, the state will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He pointed to the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya as proof of the organization honoring its ideological promises.
Governance Record Under Yogi Adityanath and References to 1990 Ayodhya Police Action
Praising the governance model led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Amit Shah stated that a single term under the current administration outweighs the collective developmental track record of past Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party tenures. He highlighted that substantial improvements in public safety and the rule of law helped the state secure investment commitments worth 50 lakh crore rupees, out of which projects valued at 15 lakh crore rupees have already been implemented on the ground. Shah further cited government figures showing a 70 percent decline in riots across Uttar Pradesh, alongside the dismantling of entrenched criminal networks. Recalling the events of 30 October 1990, when police opened fire on kar sevaks in Ayodhya, Shah asserted that those responsible for firing upon unarmed devotees have no moral ground to stake a claim to power, stressing that the public has not forgotten that tragedy.
