A major railway incident was narrowly averted in the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh when train number 26505 Khajuraho-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express collided with a bull straying onto the railway tracks. The high-speed impact severely damaged the front nose cone panel of the semi-high-speed train. The accident took place near pole number 1272-19, close to the Kidari level crossing located within the Mahoba GRP limits. Following the collision, the locomotive driver brought the train to an immediate stop to assess the structural damage.
Train Halted for Repairs Before Resuming Journey
Due to the collision, the front panel of the Vande Bharat train suffered noticeable destruction. Adhering to safety protocols, railway officials kept the express train halted at the location for nearly one hour. Technical maintenance staff along with railway security personnel inspected the damaged nose section and performed emergency on-site repairs. Once technical clearance was granted confirming the train was safe for operation, the service resumed its journey toward Varanasi.
Stray Cattle Hazards on the Bundelkhand Rail Corridor
This rail route connecting Khajuraho, Prayagraj, and Varanasi is a key transport link boosting tourism and travel across the Bundelkhand region. High-speed train operations on this section run at speeds reaching up to 130 km/h, making unexpected cattle intrusions a serious safety concern. Visuals emerging from the Mahoba site show substantial damage to the aerodynamic front end of the Vande Bharat engine, renewing calls for enhanced track fencing along vulnerable stretches.
