The incident took place near the 91st kilometer milestone on the Purvanchal Expressway while Rahul Gandhi was travelling from Lucknow to Sultanpur. According to details, five vehicles from the convoy along with an ambulance got involved in the multi-car pileup. The sudden chain reaction left little time for drivers to brake, resulting in the violent collision.
Condition of injured and ongoing journey
Chaos ensued at the site immediately following the mishap. The injured workers and security staff were promptly attended to and provided medical assistance. Amidst this tense situation, Rahul Gandhi proceeded with his scheduled journey to reach the Sultanpur court, where he was required to appear in connection with a defamation case.
