A tragic incident came to light in the Awas Vikas locality under the Sipri Bazar police station area of Jhansi on Monday morning. A 27-year-old woman identified as Shivani alias Sudha was found dead on her bed inside her residential room. According to family members, an intense verbal altercation had taken place between Shivani and her husband Yash Thakur on Sunday night. Following the argument, the husband packed his belongings late at night, latched the room door from the outside, and departed from the premises. When the room was opened the next morning, Shivani was discovered unconscious. Relatives immediately rushed her to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The husband has been absconding since the incident, and police have initiated a detailed investigation.
Timeline of Events and Scene Inside the House
The sequence of events traces back to Sunday night. Family members reported that a dispute broke out between Shivani and Yash Thakur between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM. Later in the night, around 1:30 AM to 2:00 AM, Yash woke up Shivani's younger sister Muskan and demanded his bag along with other personal belongings. Immediately after taking his items, Yash latched the room door from the outside and slipped away unnoticed. At that time, family members did not suspect any foul play.
On Monday morning around 5:00 AM, when Muskan woke up to use the restroom, she noticed that the door was latched from the outside. She knocked repeatedly and called out, but received no response from inside. Later at around 9:00 AM, Shivani's brother Aniket arrived at the house. Aniket unlatched the door from the outside and stepped into the room, encountering a distressing scene. Shivani was lying still on the bed with stiffened hands and blood coming from her mouth. Despite desperate attempts by family members to wake her, she remained unresponsive. Relatives hastily transported Shivani to the local Medical College hospital in Jhansi, where attending medical staff declared her dead after examination.
Social Media Acquaintance and Subsequent Love Marriage
Regarding their marital background, Shivani and Yash Thakur had connected through social media about one and a half to two years ago. Their online friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship, eventually leading to a love marriage. The couple did not have any children. However, marital discord erupted shortly after their wedding. Relatives allege that Yash frequently subjected Shivani to domestic disputes and physical assault. Distressed by continuous domestic abuse, Shivani had been residing with her parents in Jhansi for the past two to three months.
Shivani originally belonged to Raja Ka Baap village located in the Indargarh area, whereas her husband Yash Thakur is a resident of Gwalior. Recently, on August 26, Yash had taken Shivani to Gwalior, where she tied a Rakhi for him. The couple subsequently returned together to Jhansi on August 28. Just three days after their return, this tragic event unfolded, leaving the family in deep mourning.
Police Action and Official Statements
Upon receiving notification from the hospital, police personnel from Sipri Bazar station alongside CO City Ramveer Singh arrived at the Medical College to assess the situation. Law enforcement officials met with the deceased woman's relatives and recorded their detailed statements. Police teams inspected the scene to gather evidence and dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination.
Providing details on the case, SP City Preeti Singh stated that a dispute had occurred between the married couple during the night in the Sipri Bazar area, after which the husband left the house. The woman's body was recovered from her room the following morning. Based on a written complaint submitted by the deceased's family, a case has been registered under relevant statutory sections against the husband. Dedicated police teams are conducting raids at potential hideouts to locate and apprehend the absconding husband Yash Thakur. The SP City emphasized that the precise cause of death, whether homicide, suicide, or another factor, will be conclusively determined only after receiving the post-mortem report and concluding the police inquiry.
