Authorities in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, have sealed Venkat Hall Mugal Garden in Mohalla Retewala, Kairana, after the Development Authority declared the structure an illegal construction. The order comes in the wake of a high-profile controversy in which beef was allegedly served to guests at a walima feast hosted on these very premises, an incident that had already sent shockwaves through the area.
Walima Beef Controversy Leads to Three Arrests
The episode began when complaints surfaced that beef had allegedly been served at a walima celebration held at the garden. The matter quickly escalated after the complaint was lodged, and police moved in to make arrests. The groom Farman, his maternal uncle, and the individual who had cooked the food for the event were all taken into custody and sent to jail. Their arrest prompted the Development Authority to step in and scrutinise the premises itself.
Inspection Finds Illegal Construction, Entire Premises Sealed
Following the beef row, the Development Authority carried out a detailed inspection of Venkat Hall Mugal Garden. Officials found that the building had been constructed in clear violation of prescribed rules and standards, and that the mandatory construction approvals had never been obtained. Citing these multiple violations, the Authority declared the entire premises an illegal construction and proceeded to seal it. A police contingent was stationed at the site throughout the operation to ensure it was completed without disruption.
Bulldozer Action Possible as Legal Process Moves Ahead
According to sources, the Development Authority has now initiated further legal proceedings against the property. A demolition drive, commonly referred to as bulldozer action, could be carried out against the illegal structure in the near future. The final decision, however, will rest with the competent authority. The competent authority has stated plainly that if the garden fails to meet all the required standards, strict action will follow without delay.
