Gujarat Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi stated that strictly enforcing food safety standards remains a top priority. Issuing a stern warning to violators, he emphasized that business establishments found flouting the regulations could face immediate closure. The goal is to eradicate non-standard synthetic foods from the market entirely.
Notification Issued Under Food Safety Law
This initiative follows a crucial notification released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. The notification explicitly prohibits the sale and manufacture of non-compliant analog dairy items throughout Gujarat. The upcoming task force will ensure strict compliance on the ground through regular inspections.
Pan-State Measures Following Regional Crackdowns
Following similar regulatory actions in states such as Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, Gujarat has taken firm steps to curb fake dairy products. Analog paneer and synthetic cheese are typically manufactured using vegetable fats and chemicals instead of natural milk, posing potential health risks. The enforcement drive aims to safeguard public health and ensure consumers receive pure dairy products.
