Uttar Pradesh police have intensified their ongoing crackdown against illegal cattle slaughter and associated criminal networks across various districts. In a recent development within the jurisdiction of Chola police station in Bulandshahr, an armed encounter took place between local law enforcement personnel and a wanted fugitive. According to official police statements, the apprehended individual was a high-profile wanted suspect carrying a cash reward of 50,000 rupees on his head. Following the exchange of gunfire and subsequent arrest, the wounded accused was shifted to a medical facility for necessary treatment while further legal proceedings continue.
The initial illegal slaughter incident near Sabdalpur and Sutari
The sequence of events originated when an illegal cattle slaughter incident was reported in the forested area situated between Sabdalpur and Sutari villages under the Chola police station limits. A formal criminal case was immediately registered at the local station, and multiple specialized police teams were constituted to track down and apprehend all the culprits involved. During the initial investigation, Chola police successfully detained a resident of Sutari village named Mukim, son of Babu alias Babuddin. While two police personnel were transporting him on a motorcycle for a mandatory medical examination, their vehicle accidentally slipped and fell near a local gas depot. Seizing this unexpected opportunity, Mukim managed to escape from police custody after snatching a government service pistol from one of the escorting officers.
Encounter and exchange of gunfire behind the gas depot
Upon receiving urgent information regarding the escape, the station house officer of Chola rushed to the spot accompanied by additional police forces and the rural SWAT team, initiating an intensive search operation. During the search, officers spotted Mukim hiding behind the bushes located in the rear area of the gas depot. As law enforcement personnel surrounded his hideout, the cornered fugitive opened fire on the police party. In retaliatory self-defense, police personnel fired back, resulting in a gunshot injury to the suspect's leg that immobilized him. Authorities successfully captured him at the scene and recovered the snatched government pistol, nine live cartridges, and one empty cartridge shell from his possession. The wounded accused was promptly admitted to a hospital for medical care.
Previous arrests and ongoing legal actions
Providing details regarding the broader investigation, Circle Officer Sikandrabad Premsukh Dadia stated that a total of 11 accused individuals had already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with this cattle slaughter case. Furthermore, stringent legal action under the National Security Act has already been invoked against one of the co-accused. While other members of the network were rounded up earlier, Mukim had managed to evade arrest for an extended period. Given his elusive nature, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Meerut range had officially announced a bounty of 50,000 rupees for information leading to his capture, culminating in his eventual arrest following the recent shootout.
