The weather in Uttarakhand is changing rapidly. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) center in Dehradun has issued a forecast for inclement weather across several parts of the state for today, June 26. Various mountainous districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by showers. Meteorologists have warned of potential lightning strikes in high-altitude areas during thunderstorms. Residents and tourists have been advised to exercise caution while traveling in hilly regions, as sudden weather shifts can complicate road conditions. Meanwhile, plain districts like Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar are likely to see only light showers or thunder, offering little respite from the ongoing heat.
Temperature Variations
Significant temperature fluctuations were recorded across the state over the past 24 hours. Plains continue to experience temperatures at or above normal levels, while mountainous regions remain at or below average, providing a cooler atmosphere. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar, at 38.0°C. In contrast, the minimum temperature at Kedarnath Dham plummeted to 7.6°C, causing chilly conditions. Fortunately, there is currently no heatwave warning for any part of the state.
Updates on Major Destinations
In Dehradun and Mussoorie, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy today, with light rain or showers likely in the evening. Winds in Dehradun could gust up to 31 km/h. Rishikesh will experience humid conditions, though light drizzles may help manage the temperature. In the Kumaon region, Nainital and Mukteshwar are witnessing pleasant weather with recent rainfall. While locations like Kashipur and Khatima remain hot, the intensification of rain in districts like Bageshwar and Pithoragarh is expected to bring relief to the plains in the coming days.
Chardham Yatra and Monsoon Outlook
Pilgrims traveling on the Chardham route are advised to monitor weather updates closely.
