A shocking incident triggered widespread panic in the Gaurandi forest area under the Barabani police station limits in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district on Sunday morning after the bodies of an elderly woman and a young man were found hanging from a tree branch. The sight of two individuals suspended by a single rope caused distress among nearby residents. Upon receiving information, a team from the Barabani police station quickly dispatched officers to secure the location and initiate a formal investigation into the matter.
Locals Spot Bodies During Morning Wood Collection
According to local authorities and residents, the discovery took place around 7 AM on Sunday when a few villagers entered the forest to collect dry firewood. While moving through the wooded area, they noticed the two bodies hanging together from a large branch. The deceased woman is estimated to be approximately 55 years old, while the young man appears to be around 25 years of age. Seeing the scene, the villagers immediately alerted the local police station. Responding to the distress call, police personnel arrived at the scene, lowered the bodies, and completed the initial preliminary on-site formalities.
Bodies Sent for Autopsy at Asansol District Hospital
Following the initial procedures at the spot, the Barabani police arranged for both bodies to be transferred to the Asansol District Hospital for an autopsy examination. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be conclusively determined once the official post-mortem findings are released. At present, neither of the two deceased individuals has been identified.
