Commuters navigating the newly opened Barapullah Phase 3 elevated corridor are experiencing severe traffic congestion, leading to extensive delays during peak morning movement. The stretch extending from the Noida Link Road and Mayur Vihar Phase 1 toward the Barapullah and Ring Road interchange has witnessed bumper-to-bumper vehicle movement. What typically takes roughly 15 minutes to cross is now taking drivers nearly a full hour. Because elevated roadways lack mid-corridor exits, motorists who enter the bridge find themselves with no alternate escape points, remaining stranded until the queue clears.
Missing Navigation Updates Compound the Congestion
The gridlock worsened significantly because digital navigation platforms failed to reflect the real-time road conditions. Detailed traffic hold-ups on Barapullah Phase 3 did not show up on Google Maps, prompting regular commuters to take the route under the assumption that it was clear. Drivers who traditionally used older arterial roads also headed onto the elevated corridor. This concentrated rush converged simultaneously at the Barapullah junction, generating an overwhelming volume of vehicles that ground traffic heading toward the Ring Road to a near crawl.
Traffic Police Deploy Personnel and Enforce Diversions
Delhi Traffic Police officers have been deployed along key points on the route to manage the backlog and regulate vehicle flows. To relieve structural pressure on the corridor, authorities have begun diverting vehicles coming from Barapullah Phase 3 toward NH-24 and the DND Flyway. Motorists heading toward south Delhi or the Ring Road are strongly urged to avoid entering this elevated section entirely for now, choosing NH-24 or DND as alternative travel corridors until vehicular volume normalizes.
