Ever since arriving in theatres on October 2, Drishyam The Conclusion has been dominating the box office and driving discussions across cinema halls. Director Abhishek Pathak explicitly framed this third instalment as the final chapter of the saga, titling it accordingly. Audiences widely believed that the journey of the Salgaonkar household had reached a definitive finish. However, recent remarks from lead actor Ajay Devgn have rekindled curiosity among fans, sparking fresh debate over whether a fourth instalment could eventually materialize.
Departing From the Malayalam Blueprint With a Fresh Climax
The Hindi film series has its roots in the celebrated Malayalam franchise starring Mohanlal. While the previous editions closely mirrored the southern source material, director Abhishek Pathak chose a completely different creative route from Jeethu Joseph regarding Drishyam 3. Instead of replicating the original storyline, Pathak crafted an entirely distinct climax for Hindi moviegoers, an unexpected turn that has earned widespread critical and audience acclaim in theatres.
Ajay Devgn Reflects on the Franchise and Future Possibilities
While Drishyam 4 is considered confirmed in the South, speculation around the Hindi counterpart gained traction following Ajay Devgn's recent interview. Devgn hinted that much like the crafty protagonist Vijay Salgaonkar who always stays ahead of the game, the creative team behind the series is equally sharp. They may well find an inventive way to present another chapter if the right narrative presents itself.
Speaking to Gulf News regarding the prospects of another film, Ajay Devgn stated,
“For now, this is the end. I cannot predict.”When pressed on whether a follow-up could ever be developed, he chose not to dismiss the concept outright, clarifying that their current stance remains that this instalment serves as the conclusion.
The Third Chapter Was Not Originally Guaranteed
The actor also disclosed that the production unit initially had no firm intention of developing Drishyam 3 at all. In the early stages, the creative team explored numerous concepts, yet none seemed compelling enough to justify continuing the story. Only after landing on a truly solid narrative and an effective climax did the pieces fall into place, resulting in the finished film that is now drawing enthusiastic crowds to cinemas.
