Consumers who purchased recent flagship smartphones during a specific window may now be eligible for monetary compensation. Even though an upgraded Siri AI voice assistant is currently accessible on newer hardware through iOS 27, affected purchasers can still claim a cash payout from a massive $250 million legal agreement. This settlement applies directly to customers in the US who bought qualifying iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 models from Apple between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Approved claimants could see payouts reaching as high as $95 for each qualified device.
The heart of the dispute and Apple's response
The controversy stems directly from how Apple marketed upcoming Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities to drive smartphone purchases. Claimants filing through the settlement process are required to sign off on a specific attestation stating that they expected to receive an advertised Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it. Under the terms of the formal agreement, Apple denies any wrongdoing. In an official statement issued in May regarding the resolution, Apple emphasized that it settled the litigation to keep its full attention on delivering innovative products and services to its customer base.
Step-by-step process to file your claim
Eligible purchasers looking to secure their payout must submit their details through the dedicated web portal at smartphoneaisettlement.com. On that portal, applicants should select the blue button situated in the upper right section labeled File A Claim. The intake questionnaire first inquires whether the user holds a pre-assigned Claim ID and PIN, though lacking this data does not prevent anyone from submitting a claim. By the final step, applicants need to provide either their Apple Account ID or the device serial number. Anyone unsure of where to find the serial number can simply open Settings, navigate to General, select About, and locate the alphanumeric string shown near the top of the interface.
Payment methods and critical deadlines
Claimants will have access to both modern digital transfer methods and traditional financial channels to collect their compensation. Payout distributions can be received through PayPal, Venmo, an electronic bank transfer, or a physical paper check delivered by mail. Furthermore, individuals who purchased multiple qualifying devices during the eligible sales period must complete a separate claim submission for each individual phone. Device owners must submit all applications before the strict cutoff date of December 21.
