A serious security scare unfolded near the White House involving the safety of American President Donald Trump. A suspicious individual was taken into custody near the presidential residence on Thursday. According to United States authorities, the man was operating a stolen vehicle and was found in possession of three firearms along with dozens of rounds of ammunition. During questioning, he allegedly stated that he was hearing voices in his mind instructing him to travel to Washington and eliminate Donald Trump. Suspicious Individual Spotted Near the White House
According to the United States Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service agents observed suspicious activity surrounding a vehicle near the White House on Thursday. The car was being driven by Ronnie Yordryx Guanipa Chirinos. Officials stated that Chirinos is a Venezuelan national who allegedly entered the United States illegally in 2024. When agents questioned him, he explained that he was hearing voices in his head directing him to go to Washington D.C. and target President Donald Trump. Authorities subsequently inspected the vehicle and discovered that the car he was driving had been stolen. Chirinos also admitted to having weapons inside the automobile.
Weapons Recovered and Custody Details
The Department of Homeland Security reported that a search of the vehicle yielded a rifle, two handguns, and numerous rounds of ammunition. Following the discovery, the suspect was arrested on multiple weapons-related charges, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of stolen property. He is currently being held in the custody of the United States Marshals Service, and officials confirmed that legal proceedings regarding the case are ongoing. United States Secret Service Director Sean Curran praised the agents for their swift action, noting that officers utilized their training and experience to handle a dangerous situation that posed an immediate threat to the president's security and the general public. Curran emphasized that such incidents demonstrate the constant vigilance required by security agencies stationed around the White House complex, where individuals arriving with weapons continue to pose a concerning challenge.
Recurring Incidents Around the White House Complex
According to the Secret Service, there has been an observable increase in incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health challenges around the White House perimeter. Officials noted that the symbolic significance of the president and the White House can sometimes draw individuals struggling with psychological issues toward the complex. This follows a previous shooting incident near the White House in May, when an individual opened fire near a security checkpoint. Secret Service officers returned fire during that incident, resulting in the death of the suspect.
