A resident of Juria in Assam has been apprehended in Kerala for allegedly breaking into another individual's social media profile and using it to publish a message threatening to assassinate Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in exchange for Rs 2 crore, law enforcement officials stated.
Identity of the Accused
According to reports, the suspect has been officially identified as Rashidul Haque, a native of Dhing Chapori situated under the Juria police station jurisdiction in Nagaon.
Unauthorized Access and Threat Post
Police disclosed that Haque allegedly obtained unauthorized entry into the social media account belonging to Mobarak Ali, who resides in Gadaimari within Juria. The compromised profile was subsequently utilized to upload a public warning threatening the Chief Minister's life for a sum of Rs 2 crore. Following a cyber investigation into the alarming online activity, law enforcement successfully traced Haque's location to Kerala and placed him under arrest.
Motive Behind the Offense
During the course of interrogation, Haque reportedly confessed to authorities that he executed the plan to settle personal scores and exact revenge against Ali due to an ongoing personal dispute.
Claims Regarding Personal Dispute
As per the statement given by Haque to the investigating team, Ali had allegedly developed romantic ties with his wife and subsequently eloped with her. Haque further alleged that his wife abandoned their specially-abled child and departed with an amount of Rs 5 lakh.
