A shocking crime has emerged from the Athmalgola police station jurisdiction near Patna, the capital of Bihar, where armed criminals shot dead a local businessman late at night. The deadly ambush occurred near a railway crossing close to Dakshinichak village, sending shockwaves across the entire locality. The deceased has been identified as Lallan Puri, aged approximately 35 to 40 years. Following the midnight murder, widespread panic spread among nearby residents. Upon receiving information about the shooting, local police personnel rushed to the scene to secure the area and initiate a full-scale investigation into the incident.
Ambushed Near Railway Gate While Returning Home
According to available details, Lallan Puri had travelled to a fair organized in Rupas village to sell garlands and other small items. At around 1 AM late in the night on September 8, 2026, he was returning home on his bicycle after concluding his business at the fair. As he arrived near the Dakshinichak railway gate, miscreants who were already lying in wait surrounded him and opened rapid gunfire. Sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, Lallan Puri died on the spot. The attackers fled the scene shortly after executing the crime. His body was later recovered from an agricultural field located right beside the railway crossing.
Family Suspects Prior Grudge and Dispute
The victim's family members have alleged that the fatal attack was driven by a pre-existing personal enmity. According to relatives, Lallan Puri's moped bike had been set ablaze a few days prior to the shooting. In connection with that arson incident, Lallan Puri had lodged a formal complaint against a neighbor at the local police station. Family members accuse the involvement of rivals stemming from that ongoing feud. Law enforcement authorities are currently verifying these accusations alongside examining other potential motives surrounding the killing.
CCTV Footage Scanned and Police Raids Underway
Immediately after being alerted about the crime, a team from Athmalgola police station arrived at the spot to take charge of the investigation. Police officers have commenced a thorough review of CCTV camera footage installed near the railway gate and along nearby roadways to determine the identity of the culprits and trace their escape route. Simultaneously, police search operations and raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts to apprehend those involved. Fatuha DSP Awadhesh Kumar stated that police are probing all dimensions of the businessman's murder case and that decisive legal action will be taken based on gathered evidence. Meanwhile, the gruesome murder has sparked serious concerns among residents regarding local security measures.
