A special screening was recently held for the upcoming film Om Ka Hari, a narrative delving into the complex and tender dynamics of family relationships. Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt attended the event to support her mother, Soni Razdan, who stars in the project. Watching the film prompted Bhatt to reflect warmly on her own upbringing and share an entertaining story involving her father, Mahesh Bhatt. Directed by Harish Vyas, the film presents an engaging family dynamic that defies early assumptions about its theme.
Childhood Spelling Tests and Mahesh Bhatt's Playful Act
Speaking about her family, Alia Bhatt highlighted her father's humorous and vibrant personality, which made her childhood full of memorable incidents. Recalling a specific instance from her early school days, Alia Bhatt said, “When I was in first grade, I had a spelling test and was terrified of forgetting how to spell the word ‘the’.”
To ease her anxiety and ensure she never forgot the spelling, her father decided to turn the lesson into a lively spectacle at home. Bhatt recalled that he acted like a giant bear, staging an elaborate and amusing performance that left a lasting impression on her mind, helping her overcome her fear of tests through lighthearted fun.
A Title That Hints at Faith, but a Core Centered on Father-Son Dynamics
While the title Om Ka Hari might sound like a devotional or religious feature at first glance, the film actually explores the intricate relationship between a father and his son. Within family structures, certain feelings, expectations, and misunderstandings often remain unexpressed. Through a balance of drama and situational comedy, the movie tackles these subtle domestic struggles and communication gaps that many households encounter.
The central pillar of the plot revolves around the generational divide between two closely bonded individuals. Even when deep affection exists, differing perspectives inevitably create friction. As both generations attempt to bridge the gap and understand each other, emotional clashes and humorous misunderstandings arise. Om Ka Hari brings these contrasting shades of a parent-child bond to the forefront.
Key Cast and Harish Vyas Reuniting with Anshuman Jha
The lead roles of Om and Hari are played by Anshuman Jha and veteran actor Raghubir Yadav. Alongside them, the ensemble cast features Soni Razdan, Ayesha Kapur, and Samta Sudiksha playing crucial roles. Produced under the banner of First Ray Films, the direction is spearheaded by Harish Vyas.
Om Ka Hari marks the third collaboration between director Harish Vyas and actor Anshuman Jha. The duo previously partnered on acclaimed titles like Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain and Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele. Exploring the warmth, friction, and love within an Indian household, the film is scheduled to arrive in movie theatres this September.
