Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has picked up a nasty eye infection just days before the grand trailer launch of his much-awaited film 'Ramayana', with excitement building for the mega event even as reports suggest he may step out in dark glasses as a precaution. Sources say Kapoor is dealing with conjunctivitis, an eye condition that causes swelling, sharp pain, watery eyes and makes it difficult to even open them, with crusting often causing the eyelids to stick together.
Despite the discomfort, Ranbir remains fully committed to his work and is reportedly ready to attend the historic event in Delhi as planned.
Infection Passed On While Caring For Daughter Raha
Ranbir Kapoor's team has confirmed that the eye infection first affected his daughter, Raha Kapoor. Spending time with her and looking after her as a hands-on father is how Ranbir himself ended up catching the infection. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious and spreads quickly through close contact, which is why it often passes easily between family members living under one roof. Sources close to the film revealed that Raha was infected first, and Ranbir caught it from her afterwards. Even so, Ranbir has no intention of skipping the event. Team Ramayana has finished preparations for a grand 'Pratham Sankalp' event at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, and Ranbir will attend wearing dark glasses as a safety precaution.
Grand Trailer Launch Set For Bharat Mandapam
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious mythological epic 'Ramayana: Part 1' has generated massive anticipation ahead of its trailer launch. The trailer will be officially released on July 18 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra will be present at the special occasion along with the film's lead cast. However, there has been no official confirmation yet on whether Kannada superstar Yash, who plays 'Ravana', and Sunny Deol, who plays 'Lord Hanuman', will attend the launch event.
'Ramayana' Heads To San Diego Comic-Con
The Delhi trailer launch is only the beginning, because 'Ramayana's team will then head to a major global platform. After making a splash in India, the makers will present a special showcase of the film at the famous San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in the United States on July 23. With this, 'Ramayana' will become only the second Indian film, after 'Kalki 2898 AD', to reach this prestigious global platform. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Namit Malhotra are expected to attend this international showcase. Made on a massive budget of around Rs 4,000 crore, the film is being counted among the most expensive productions in the history of Indian cinema, with music composed jointly by A R Rahman and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
The Epic Will Release In Two Parts
'Ramayana', produced under Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations banners, will be released in two parts. The first chapter of this cinematic journey, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will hit theatres on Diwali 2026, while the second and final part will release the following year, on Diwali 2027.
