The political fallout from the alleged purification ritual performed at a stage in Haldwani following a Congress event at the Ramlila Ground has now reached local law enforcement. Two formal written complaints have been lodged with the Haldwani police against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The complaints were filed by Vinod Arya and Amit Kumar, both of whom are members of the Shriram Sena Dharmaswa Seva Nyas, the organization responsible for carrying out the stage purification. In their formal submission to the police, the two members have demanded that a criminal case be registered against Rahul Gandhi under the SC/ST Act.
Controversy Over Press Conference Remarks
According to the police complaint filed by Vinod Arya and Amit Kumar, Rahul Gandhi addressed the purification incident during a press conference held in Delhi on Saturday. The complainants alleged that Gandhi presented the event as an act of untouchability and a crime against the Scheduled Castes without properly verifying the facts or conducting any thorough investigation. Furthermore, the complaint states that Gandhi publicly demanded the registration of police cases against the individuals involved in the purification, prompting the organization to take legal recourse and file these formal complaints.
