Over the past few days, IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe has been drawing widespread attention for his aggressive crackdowns after taking charge as the Maharashtra FDA Commissioner in May 2026. The widespread issue of synthetic paneer and food adulteration has dominated discussions since then. Amid this atmosphere, prominent columnist and former actress Twinkle Khanna penned a post detailing how the ongoing raids and adulteration scams have completely changed her eating habits and prompted her to start making paneer right inside her own kitchen.
Checking With Restaurants Before Ordering Food
Sharing a recent incident in her column, Twinkle Khanna wrote about visiting a restaurant where she ordered broccoli and chicken tikka. However, the moment the food was served at their table, her immediate reaction was to ask whether the establishment had been cleared or checked by Tukaram Mundhe. The staff promptly replied that they had indeed been approved just last week. Only after receiving this reassurance did she feel comfortable enough to enjoy her meal without any worries.
A Homemade Paneer Competition at Home
In her latest Mrs Funnybones column, Twinkle Khanna revealed that ever since the fake paneer scandal made headlines, she and her mother have taken up making paneer at home. She humorously noted that a friendly debate has started in their household regarding the output. While her mother manages to get around 250 grams of paneer from a litre of milk, Twinkle herself struggles to produce about 180 grams. Conversations often revolve around whose batch tastes better and looks whiter.
Conducting a Raid in Her Own Kitchen
Amidst these food safety concerns, Twinkle also referenced a troubling news report from Nalanda district in Bihar, where students fell ill after detergent was allegedly used instead of salt in their food. Bringing in a touch of her signature humor, she joked that she decided to carry out a Mundhe-inspired raid in her own pantry. During this self-inspection, she stumbled upon a forgotten packet of royal spice dating back to the Mughal era, which had long since expired.
Satirical Take on Food and History
Taking a satirical dig at social attitudes, Twinkle Khanna remarked that individuals who wish to erase the Mughals from history books should probably start by altering their dining plates first. She pointed out that people cannot enjoy Mughal-inspired delicacies like koftas, kormas, kebabs, and Mughlai paneer while simultaneously claiming they want to wipe out the dynasty from historical records.
