Medical findings have resolved the uncertainties surrounding the sudden demise of celebrated actor Nana Patekar, establishing that he passed away from natural health causes after suffering a massive heart attack. The final autopsy report, compiled by a specialist panel of doctors at Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim, confirmed the diagnosis and ruled out foul play. Following the release of these conclusive findings, police authorities briefed the actor's relatives about the medical details. With the family expressing no objections to the findings, investigators are moving to officially close the unnatural death proceeding that had been registered as standard protocol.
Underlying Coronary Artery Disease Revealed
The veteran artist's abrupt passing had initially stunned his household and fans, especially since relatives, including his nephew, remembered him as a fitness-conscious individual who adhered to disciplined workout schedules, strict diets, and healthy daily habits. The autopsy findings, however, uncovered that the 75-year-old was dealing with underlying coronary artery disease (CAD). In this cardiovascular condition, the arterial pathways supplying the heart muscles can experience blockages or blood clots, cutting off vital blood circulation. This obstruction triggered the sudden, catastrophic heart attack that claimed his life. Goa police noted that the document categorizes the fatality strictly as natural, putting an end to lingering speculation.
Timeline of The Fateful Night in Dona Paula
The tragedy took place on October 8 at his residence in Goa, where the actor was staying along with his domestic staff. Police inquiries documented that just hours prior to the fatal incident, during the late hours of October 7, Nana Patekar had reached out to his close friend Amey Naik. At 2:30 AM, he sent a text message stating that he was feeling unwell. Amey Naik noticed the unread message around 3:30 AM and immediately rushed to the actor's house in Dona Paula. Upon arriving, he discovered the veteran performer lying unresponsive on the living room sofa, prompting an urgent call for emergency medical services.
An ambulance transported him to Manipal Hospital, where emergency care personnel administered CPR for 45 minutes in accordance with standard medical resuscitation procedures. Despite their prolonged efforts, the interventions failed to revive him, and attending physicians officially pronounced him dead at 5:20 AM. Medical staff later confirmed that the actor had already succumbed before reaching the hospital facility.
Final Rites at Pune Farmhouse with State Honours
Once all mandatory autopsy and administrative procedures were wrapped up at Goa Medical College, Nana Patekar's mortal remains were escorted to his farmhouse situated in Done village near Pune. The last rites were performed there with full state honours. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived in person to pay his final respects, joining family and mourners. The ceremonial pyre was lit by the late actor's only son, Malhar Patekar, concluding his final journey.
