Renowned Bollywood actor Govinda recently opened up about the work ethic and enduring personalities of veteran stars Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna. He believes that neither of these legendary actors ever chased stardom or made deliberate efforts to build a specific public image. According to Govinda, the immense love of the audience brought them this stature, and stardom naturally followed them wherever they went. Emphasizing this point, Govinda noted that both Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna always stayed focused entirely on their craft and reached the pinnacle of success purely through their exceptional work.
The First Encounter Between Govinda and Rajesh Khanna
In an interview with the news agency ANI, Govinda recalled the moment he crossed paths with Rajesh Khanna for the very first time. He shared that their initial meeting took place on the sets of director David Dhawan's film Swarg, which was released in 1990. During that time, superstar Rajesh Khanna suddenly posed a striking question to a relatively new Govinda, asking why he was not where he was supposed to be.
Govinda's Humble Reply to Rajesh Khanna
Responding to the veteran actor with utmost simplicity and a philosophical touch, Govinda said that Kaka Ji, God has already planned everything in advance. He added that the Almighty knows the height and limit of every tree and where each one should be planted, and that everyone is simply a part of this beautiful garden. When Rajesh Khanna asked whether he was happy with his existing achievements, Govinda smiled and replied in the affirmative, saying yes, absolutely.
Praising the Aura of Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna
Continuing his thoughts, Govinda praised both Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna, drawing attention to their unique radiance. He asked how many sadhus, saints, or sages people had seen and challenged anyone to show a single saint who possessed the radiant glow of Rajesh Khanna or Dharmendra. In his view, their faces carried a distinct, divine attraction. Govinda stated that he considers himself immensely fortunate to have received the love and guidance of these great personalities. For context, Rajesh Khanna passed away in 2012, while Dharmendra bid farewell to the world in 2025.
Govinda's Return After Seven Years with Roop
It is worth noting that Govinda was last seen on the big screen in the 2019 film Rangila Raja, where he played a double role. However, that movie turned out to be a major disaster at the box office. After staying away from the silver screen for seven years, Govinda is now gearing up to make a power-packed comeback with the upcoming film Roop. In this movie, he will be seen sharing screen space with Komal Rani Swarnakar.
