A fresh cinematic pairing is gearing up to take center stage in Hindi cinema. Director Tinu Suresh Desai has finalized Medha Rana to play the female lead opposite Ahan Shetty in his upcoming action-packed romance, Sanki. The feature film has officially commenced filming on location in Bhopal, where Medha Rana has joined Ahan Shetty and the broader production crew to begin shooting principal photography.
Instant Nod for the Script
The collaboration came together seamlessly after Medha Rana was introduced to the project's screenplay. Intrigued by the narrative and character arc, she agreed to sign the film right after the narration. Medha previously appeared in the high-profile feature Border 2, where she shared screen space with Varun Dhawan. Following the success of that war epic, Sanki represents a key milestone in her filmography, offering a distinct blend of intense drama and commercial storytelling.
Two Months of Dedicated Preparation and Workshops
Stepping into this demanding role required rigorous groundwork, leading Medha Rana to spend the past two months in continuous preparation. To grasp the emotional tone and mannerisms of her character, she participated in several specialized workshops. Alongside psychological preparation, she underwent customized physical training tailored to the dynamic demands of the narrative before heading to the Bhopal sets.
A Role Combining Romance and High-Octane Action
In Sanki, Medha Rana portrays the romantic partner of Ahan Shetty's character, but the part extends well beyond conventional romantic beats. The role integrates passionate romance, deep psychological depth, and demanding physical action sequences. The actress had actively sought a script that would allow her to balance dramatic acting performance with high-energy stunt work, making this two-month preparation directly aligned with her character's requirements.
First Romantic Pairing After Border 2
While both Ahan Shetty and Medha Rana featured in the ensemble of Border 2, they performed in separate storylines alongside different co-stars. Sanki marks the very first time the two performers will share screen space directly as an on-screen romantic couple, bringing an entirely new dynamic to their cinematic collaboration.
Scheduled for a 2027 Theatrical Launch
Produced jointly under the banners of We The People, Roaring River Productions, and Pals and Peers Entertainment, Sanki is positioned as one of the prominent action titles lined up for a 2027 theatrical release. The filmmakers are expected to unveil the initial official glimpse of the movie in the coming days as production proceeds in Bhopal.
